Workday Learning LMS Migration

2025

  • Migrate an existing digital curriculum to a new learning management system.

  • Existing content was not SCORM-compatible. So, 170+ courses needed to be recreated using a SCORM-based authoring tool.

  • Source content was missing after the company had laid off the training team. Plus, the conversion faced a hard deadline: Loosing existing content when the contract for the incumbant LMS expired.

  • Within 90 days, we updated the existing content, re shot or converted 100 videos, and rebuilt 170+ courses using Articulate Rise.

Then we had to publish SCORM packages, load them into Workday Learning, and test their functionality across multiple browsers.

The client also requested a suite of “how to” job aids so they could revise and load content after project conclusion.

  • Articulate Rise, Learning 360, Workday Learning, Google Sheets, Camtasia, Snagit, and Google Cloud Storage

Project Planning

Even set against a hard deadline, the project seemed straightforward. We knew how many courses and how many video objects. But we had no data on course run times or page counts. A few courses displayed a run time, so we had a starting point. We could generate a rough order-of-magnitude labor estimate, but there were still unknowns.

Thankfully, the client provided Articulate Rise as the authoring tool, which would streamline the effort and help refine the estimate. From this, we created (and stuck to) this single-stream project plan. Click to view the plan.

Project Results

Despite some scope creep, we delivered on time and on budget. The client was delighted with the results. By the numbers, here is what they received.
